Today we examine Dr. Goundar’s book, “ENTERPRISE SYSTEMS AND TECHNOLOGICAL CONVERGENCE: Research and Practice”. We will also examine Chapter 5 of the same book in which Dr. Goundar is a co-author, “HOW ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE IS TRANSFORMING THE ERP SYSTEMS.”
This work is the topic of our conversation today with Dr. Goundar. In our bonus questions, we also discuss the definition of ERP, technological convergence, and the main purpose of writing, contributing to and editing the book. We also discuss the common problems present in ERP systems (without AI), AI’s role in ERP and how can it benefit organizations, the current state of AI, and disadvantages and cons to AI in general and in the context of ERP.

02:46 Sam, tell us about yourself. Tell us about the culmination of your research and career.
05:05 In the book “ENTERPRISE SYSTEMS AND TECHNOLOGICAL CONVERGENCE: Research and Practice” you discuss, well, ERP and technological converge. So first, how would you define ERP?
10:39 Second, what does technological convergence mean?
15:48 As a follow-up, what does technological convergence mean in the context of ERP systems?
20:41 What was the main purpose of writing, contributing to, and editing the book, again titled “ENTERPRISE SYSTEMS AND TECHNOLOGICAL CONVERGENCE: Research and Practice”
24:55 Your chapter “ENTERPRISE SYSTEMS AND TECHNOLOGICAL CONVERGENCE: Research and Practice” does a great job of taking a sound academic research-based way of studying AI in the context of ERP. You perform a literature review, established research questions, prepared a sound methodology, and present results and findings. Two-part question;
25:24 What can you share with our listeners as your final concluding thoughts on this work?
27:37 Were there any surprises or any intriguing information you discovered that you personally didn’t expect?
